Hidden in Plain Sight
So many seek God but cannot find God, never realizing God is always hidden in plain sight. This painting shows how our mind gets distracted by the noise of symbols, names, thoughts and beliefs so that we no longer see that we are always in the Presence of God. God is always here for those who have eyes to see.
Layers of acrylic paint are added and removed to create the impression of ancient monastery walls giving a timeless feel to the painting and the message.
This painting is part of a new series called Visual Mantras. In this particular painting a long sequence of symbols were drawn and in the process the word God (in English) appeared many times. I have no idea what the other symbols mean, if anything. Although it is possible that some are from ancient languages. It felt like that as I was drawing them, especially as I was drawing them from right to left, the opposite way of writing in English. At that point I understood the meaning of...
